Customer Questions and Answers

Does this work well inside too?

Asked by: Farmer
This scooter is larger than typical knee scooters. It's mediocre indoors due to its size if you have tight turns, narrow halls or doorways or other confined areas. This is great outdoors, except for the dicey braking.

Is this a locking brake?  And would I need to pump up the tires?

Asked by: SADC
The brake has a locking feature on the brake handle. Warning, don't rely on it as there is only a brake on one of the rear wheels. If that wheel comes off the ground, the scooter may roll away. Also, don't go fast... The braking is dicey at best. The tires are solid and don't require air

Customer Reviews

All-Terrain Knee Walker is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for outdoors, but not hills I bought this 990x knee walker for my foot surgery and I am a teacher who needs to go from one classroom to another, outdoors. Works great. There are a couple of design flaws. I agree that two brake pulls are needed, not just one. I killed my brake on a downhill and now it perpetually squeaks. The second design flaw is the knee pad post. The adjustment is not obvious. I turned the silver knob and unscrewed it. It should have at least a sticker that customers should not touch this and why. It is the cylinder for the shocks, not the adjustment for the knee height. The clamp is not a good design. I tightened my clamp all the way, put my knee on it and it collapsed. Now I am getting both the post and the brakes fixed professionally.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Outdoors I had achilles reconstruction surgery for the second time and knew I didn't want to deal with crutches again for 10 weeks. For the first few weeks post-op I used one of the indoor, smaller Drive knee walkers. They work great for indoors, but taking them outdoors can be treacherous. The smallest pebble can send you for a spill. I'm also coaching kids baseball and needed something to get me out on the field. I rented this all-terrain knee walker and it has been amazing for getting around outdoors. It's on the big and heavy side (my son calls it 'The Beast'), but the stability and flexibility to go outdoors is worth it! I'm 6'2, 220 lbs and I'm sure it could handle much bigger and taller than me. FYI, I ended up using the small version indoors and left the beast for outdoors only. Pros: Can handle most outdoor terrain, very sturdy (don't feel like you can tip or flip forwards like the indoor version), knee pad is very comfortable Cons: Bulky to store in car, larger turning radius. not practical for indoors, needs 2 brakes To the manufacturer: Great product, but it needs 2 brakes. When on the slightest uneven terrain if the wheel with the brake loses contact with the ground you have no brakes! The brake line also shipped much too loose leaving the basic adjustment settings (on handle and on wheel) useless. Once I tightened the brake line it worked fine.
